ABOUT ME
Whaddup,
Brittany colette pailthorpe, here.
A close-to-thirty self-taught media maker and a professional administrator in RI. A student of writing and rhetoric, I earned my BA from the University of Rhode Island and my MA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Obsessed with communication, critical thinking, content, and composition, a little tech-y and a lot of organized, I earn a living during the day fielding administrative matters big and small, and I spearhead my own projects, for myself, just for the love of it, in my free time.
A self-taught web/visual designer, photographer, editor, and content producer, I merge all these skills with professional research, writing, and collaboration, and after my day job is done, I work on growing my expertise in branding, analytics, and strategic communication.
Cerebral to a fault, I ponder policy, authenticity, memory, identity, justice, history, media, and culture the most, and wrote one example of how all of it matters for our future in my Communication Studies thesis.
Systemically enraptured by teaching, learning, and forever a believer in the power of an education, I currently work at Brown University, am gearing up again to write some non-fiction, and have a dream of one day earning my Juris Doctor.
A fierce lover of popular culture, a news junkie, and a perpetual researcher of everything, I’m eternally building a home for my art to live in the digital world.
The Black Swan District, is more than my soul via WordPress, it’s a non-commercial aspiring collective, to be a space for the quirky work of anyone and everyone who has something to show or say.
